About the Owl Project About the Owl ProjectBayer Environmental Science, CSVC and Coopers Environmental Science Barn Owl Project
Promote the use of a rodenticide that is effective but with limited threat to predators. Racumin products, multi-feed rodenticides, pose a low risk to owls that might eat a poisoned rat.
Placing nesting boxes in the environment will encourage Barn Owl presence in the area. Improved rodent control is established, which will in turn limit the use of rodenticides.
Data will be collected on breeding pairs, chicks hatched and numbers fledged. Chicks will be ringed where possible before fledging and data will be sent to SAFRING. The information will add additional data on Barn Owl movements and longevity. The project has been launched in the Piggery Industry in 2007. To view progress reports click here. The First 100 participants per year in The Bayer, CSVC & Coopers Owl Project will receive a free owl box.
